KCC Mental Health Commissioning Update October/ November 2011

Restructure in Kent County Council

• Mark Lobban is now in post as Director of Strategic Commissioning, Families and Social Care.
• Penny Southern is now in post as Interim Director of Learning Disabilities and Mental Health, Families and Social Care.

Mental Health Contracting and Commissioning Team changes:

• Tracy Hepburn is assisting  KMPT with a piece of work for the new charging policy which affects mental health service users
• Navdeep Sadra has been appointed as temporary Senior Administration Officer to cover Tracy Hepburn’s work until the end of November.
• Julie Jupp and Louise Piper have now moved into the new Mental Health Professional Assurance Team, which is headed by Cheryl Fenton.
• Other team members for this new team are Victoria Gascoine and Jo Missing
• The team will be working on the following areas:

- Support of social care staff

- Safeguarding

- Statutory responsibilities of KCC, such as guardianship and MHA work

- Personalisation

- KCC data entry requirements

South East Business Portal

In future Kent County Council will advertise all tender opportunities through the South East Business Portal and providers that wish to have future business with KCC, need to register with the South East Business Portal. Please see link below for further information on how to register. Letters have also been sent out by email to all contracted mental health providers to advise them of this.

Live it Well Launch

The Launch of the revised website took place on World Mental Health Day 10^th October and a speech was given by Graham Gibbens, KCC cabinet member for Adult Social Care. There was a good turn out at the event, which was a great success.  This is the website of the 5 year ‘Live it Well’ mental health strategy.
